Mapping the Schools to Substance Use Pipeline
| After locating Harlem’s public, charter, and private schools, we’ve used translucent blue circles to represent 500 foot buffer zones around each of these educational sites on the map above. On top of this educational geography of Harlem, we’ve overlaid opioid treatment programs (in red) and Harlem’s safe injection site (in black). The proximity and overlay of addiction programs near – and even next to – schools in Harlem is simply unacceptable. It is unconscionable that Harlem’s children are forced to navigate their way to class by passing programs that could have been located in more peripheral locations, away from their schools. |
