Hospital Closures and Racial Correlation

Maya Kaufman Crains Business Health care reporter, has written an examination of how 20 full-service hospitals have closed across the city in the last 25 years. Closures disproportionately impacted areas that tend to bear the highest burdens of disease: poorer neighborhoods where the majority of residents are people of color.

12 closures were in marginalized communities and now, 6 districts, including four where most residents are non-white, now have no hospital at all

@NYCHealthy fails to stop hospital closures, yet has placed 100% of all supervised injection sites in communities of color.
